The President has signed a Resolution "On Measures to Improve the Activities of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan."

This significant and historic document defines the primary goals and priority areas of the Academy of Sciences. Research based on these priorities will be established through 2030. By 2030, the Academy and its affiliated organizations aim to achieve the following:

  • The number of new scientific developments and the volume of funds from commercialization will increase 3-fold;

  • The share of young people among scientific staff will reach 60%;

  • The number of articles published in prestigious international scientific journals will increase 4-fold;

  • The involvement of academicians and professors in the educational process will increase 5-fold;

  • The number of international collaborative research projects will increase 3-fold.

The scientific diaspora operating abroad will be reintegrated into Uzbekistan's science sector. Scientific institutions of the Academy will transition to a competitive funding system, and an incentive system will be created to strengthen youth participation in academic sciences.

To radically improve the commercialization of the Academy's new developments, a Council for Science and Industry Integration will be established, with its composition approved by the Head of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Furthermore, the document approves a program of measures to enhance the Academy's activities, target indicators through 2030, and a plan for the gradual increase of scientific personnel.

The total limited number of management staff at the Academy of Sciences is set at 50. The Center for Advanced Technologies and the International Center for Molecular Allergology of the Agency for Innovative Development (both formerly under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation) will be transferred to the Academy of Sciences system.

Regional branches of the Academy of Sciences will be established in Namangan, Samarkand, and Termez. Additionally, the Central Asian Regional Office of the International Science Council will be set up.

Another vital development is the establishment of the Academy of Sciences Fund to support scientific research, attract young scientists, and provide sustainable funding for strategically important scientific areas. The state budget will allocate 80 billion soums annually to this fund.

The most crucial task ahead is the effective implementation of this resolution and the fulfillment of the set goals. Our Head of State is creating the necessary conditions and opportunities; we must now utilize them to collectively elevate the power of our national science to the highest level!
